Antigua is most famous for its Sailing and it is one of the
major centers for the Caribbean. The sport is centered on English and
Falmouth Harbors in the South-east of the island, which becomes extremely
lively in the season (from December to April). The island is also a popular
port of call for cruise ships, including some of the smaller sailing ships.
Antigua is also generally good for Sports. Dickenson Bay, the island’s most
popular beach, is a lively centre for waterspouts, but if you are an
advanced windsurfer or kite surfer you will find very good onshore winds and
facilities in the North-east. While the Scuba Diving is not among the best
in the Caribbean, Antigua does make a good place to learn or dip into the
sport. Finally there are two golf courses on Antigua, both of which accept
visitors.

Other activities on land are slightly less abundant. If you are interested
in Nature, or Flora and Gardens, then not very much is formally organized
(though Barbuda has some interest in its frigate bird sanctuary, see an
article about Barbuda and the frigate bird sanctuary). The human activity is
livelier. There are many bars in which you can hear home-grown and general
Caribbean Music. Also, if you happen to be on island at the time of Carnival
then make sure to go along and have a look. You can even buy a costume in
one of the bands and join in the parades.
With its large sailing industry, Antigua makes a fun visit for a Solo
Traveler, but it also caters well for families with a number of hotels
suitable for Children. Many of the hotels would also happy to arrange a
Wedding for you. There are some excellent beaches on which to hold a
ceremony and other romantic locations among Antigua’s many fortifications.
Although the Holistic side of life is not particularly well developed in
Antigua, there is an increasing number of Spas where you can get massage and
other treatments.
A tropical paradise in the Caribbean offering
visitors a taste of the wonderful life we experience daily. Filled with
unique and natural attractions with miles and miles of blue sea. The golden
sunlight pours out its warmth on the island and it is felt in the smiles and
friendliness of the people. Enjoy the spectacular view of the butterfly
shaped landscape and the catalog of sights, smells and sounds and of course
the resounding peace that refreshes once you enter the island.

Outdoor Activities:
Tennis:
This sport is new fairly new to the island but is catching on extremely
fast. Tennis Week in May makes for a wonderful tournament and attracts the
likes of many international players. For leisure game of singles or doubles
arrangements can be made with your hotel. In recent time many hotels have
built courts to accommodate their guests.
Eco-Tours:
They are many mangrove swamps and bird watching available on these two
islands. Hikes are available and can be arranged by the hotel. An excellent
opportunity to see the natural beauty of the island. The vast bird life that
is present in the Frigate Bird Sanctuary, accessible only by boat. There are
forts at the top of many of the hilltops. Fort George is at the top of
Monk's hill. They can be hikes that can be arranged daily to these forts.

Diving and Snorkeling:
Explore wrecks from centuries past; enjoy the thrill of the underwater world
adorned with sponges and coral in a stunning array of colors. There are
reefs filled with schooling and solitary fish alike. This is truly an
exhilarating piece of experience.
Fishing:
Sport fishing or leisure fishing all can be done here. Take a boat and sail
out, drop anchor and throw your line for a catch of Marlins or sit on a rock
and enjoy the sun and in a relaxing poise. Whichever way it will be an
experience to remember.
